100 Women of Oxford
During the early years of motherhood, I moved my family to Oxford and began using the camera as a tool to find myself beyond my role of mother. To redefine the woman I wanted to become, I invited 100 strangers to open their front door, to sit with me for an hour or two before I made a portrait to mark the moment.
Seated within the intimate spaces of their homes, I had the privilege of listening to stories about love and loss, politics, motherhood, mental health, sexuality, family conflict, and belonging, alongside countless other facets of humanity. This project has taught me the significance of community and self-worth, and the reality of imposter syndrome.
The project was exhibited during the Photo Oxford Festival 2020 and has since been published as a photobook by The North Wall Art Gallery. The book comprises one hundred portraits, each paired with a short quote from the sitter, drawn from our conversation.
